C-SPAN StudentCam 2026

As in years past, I was the lead graphic designer for the 2026 edition of C-SPAN’s national StudentCam documentary competition, where I was responsible for creating a visual campaign that could once again reach students across the country through print, digital, and on-air formats. This year’s campaign centered around the 250-year anniversary of the United States.

My sketches revolved around positioning traditional American imagery with layered textures in a variety of ways. I slowly trimmed down the long list of visuals I was considering until I had five or six distinct images. Compiling all images over a U.S. flag/U.S. Constitution background gave me my focal point. Then came the arranging of a lot of competition information in a small area, which was a matter of heirarchy.

The final design system, created using InDesign and Photoshop, was implemented across a wide variety of deliverables, including posters, flyers, postcards, stickers, web banners, email graphics, and TV promos. Once again, the campaign received strong praise from internal teams and educators alike, and contributed to thousands of student entries. This project pushed me to navigate creative feedback with flexibility, while still advocating for clarity, cohesion, and design integrity.
