Ceasefire Graphics Package

In 2025, C-SPAN launched a new weekly political discussion program, Ceasefire. The show features two guests, one Democrat and one Republican, joining a moderator for a structured conversation about current political issues.

To support the program’s launch, I designed a full on-air graphics package that would visually support the show’s discussions while maintaining consistency with C-SPAN’s broader universal graphics system.

The graphics help present contextual information during segments, including guest identification, quotes, images, and supporting visuals that appear alongside the discussion.

I served as the lead designer for the broadcast package, creating the visual system used throughout the program. Working primarily in Adobe Photoshop, I developed the overall style and layout of the graphics based on an initial background asset provided by another designer. From there, I built out the full collection of broadcast elements needed for production.

The package included:

  • Full-screen explainers

  • Guest identification graphics

  • “Big little” layouts pairing a speaker with images or text

  • Squeezes and squeezebacks

  • Branded transitions and show identity elements

I also created reusable templates so the production team could efficiently populate graphics for each episode.

I worked closely with senior producers, production assistants, and editorial staff responsible for preparing episode content. As the production team continued to define the show’s needs, new graphics requirements were added to the package. I regularly created additional layouts and templates to support these evolving requests during the show’s development period.

Although Ceasefire is pre-taped rather than live, the design process still required a fast and flexible approach. The graphics system needed to align with C-SPAN’s new universal on-air graphics framework, and maintain a distinctive identity for the show while accommodating multiple types of content, including text, images, quotes, and video. Building the package as a flexible system allowed producers to quickly assemble graphics for each episode while maintaining a consistent visual language.

Ceasefire premiered in October 2025 on C-SPAN and airs weekly. Designing this package reinforced the importance of building flexible broadcast systems rather than one-off graphics. By creating adaptable templates and layouts, the production team can quickly generate new visuals while maintaining consistency across episodes.

The project also strengthened my experience designing graphics for political and news programming, where information needs to be communicated clearly and quickly without distracting from the on-air conversation.
